Karimnagar: Genius Academy children stand out in chess championships
The children of ‘Genius Chess Academy’ of Karimnagar district won prizes in both State and national level chess tournaments that were held recently in Hyderabad and Gujarat, informed the senior coach of the academy K Anoop Kumar.
Karimnagar: The children of 'Genius Chess Academy' of Karimnagar district won prizes in both State and national level chess tournaments that were held recently in Hyderabad and Gujarat, informed the senior coach of the academy K Anoop Kumar. The children who won the prizes met District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed here at the Collectorate and took blessings from him.
Addressing on the occasion, Anoop Kumar said that Genius Chess Academny was established with an aim to train children and make them grow like masterminds, under the leadership of senior chess player Kankati Kanakaiah.
By conducting camps in government schools, the children who are interested and show skills in playing chess will be selected and given training to master the game. They can participate in competitions at various levels and win prizes, he said.
Shloka Yukti, won 3rd place and Mega Samhitha stood at 5rd place in 65th School Games held at the State level under 14 years category. While S Varuna Teja has earned 3rd place under 17 year category in chess tournament held in October at Jedcherla of Hyderabad and had been selected to National level which held at Gujarat state and got 5th place among 28 States, he informed.
The Dictrict Collector congratulated the children and blessed them for the bright future. He also wished the children to play well and reach greater heights in the sports and games and get name and fame to the Karimnagar district.
He appreciated the efforts put in by director K Kanakaiah and senior coach K Anoop who have been trying to shape up the children as champions by establishing the Chess Academy in the city.
The representatives of District Chess Association, local public representatives, educationists and parents of the children Dr Vamshi Krishna, Sravanthi, Raj Kumar, Sri Latha, and Coach Surya Kiran and others were present on the occasion.
