Karimnagar: BJP leader Boga Pushpa Latha demanded the government for providing work for the women workers of national rural employment guarantee scheme. Led by Pushpa Latha, as many as 70 women workers staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate in Karimnagar on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Pushpa Latha alleged that about 70 women workers belonging to Theegalaguttapalli had lost the opportunity to do work under the employment guarantee scheme as their village was merged into Karimnagar Municipal Corporation.

Due to the present lockdown situation and with coronavirus spreading at an alarming rate, they are not getting work anywhere and facing severe financial problems. Even though they have job cards, the officials are not providing them work under the employment guarantee scheme, she pointed out.

Latha said that many villagers are dependent on daily wage works to support their family. The government must understand their problems due to no work and no money; and must provide jobs under the NREGA scheme along with issuing job cards to those who do not have one, she demanded.

Later, BJP leader Pushpa Latha along with women workers submitted a memorandum to District Collector K Shashanka and urged him to provide work to the women under NREGA scheme.
