Karimnagar: Taskforce officials nabbed a gang involved in fake seeds business and seized 18 quintals of fake seeds worth Rs 25 lakh on Thursday in Karimnagar district.

Karimnagar Task force officials were tipped off about fake seeds business going on in the district with Hyderabad as headquarters and kept a vigil on people involved in such illegal business. On Thursday morning, task force police were informed that a load of fake seeds was arriving to Thimmapur in the district and conducted raids and stopped the vehicle, which was transporting 18 quintals of fake seeds at Kothapalli village of Thimmapur mandal.

They also nabbed vehicle driver, who was identified as Nune Naresh (24), native of Rangareddy district.

After investigation, police found out that Lakshminarayana (40) of Mahbubnagar district was running fake seeds business with Vanasthalipuram of Hyderabad as headquarters. He used to import fake seeds from Kurnool of Andhra Pradesh. The vehicle loaded with fake seeds was coming from Uppal of Hyderabad to Karimnagar district.

The LMD police registered a case against vehicle driver Naresh and fake seeds merchant Lakshminarayana and started man hunt for the merchant, who was absconding.

Police Commissioner VB Kamalasan Reddy appreciated the efforts put in by task force inspectors R Prakash and Shashidhar Reddy along with SI Karunakar and ASI Narsaiah for bursting the fake seeds rocket and announced rewards to them.

The CP warned the persons involved in fake seeds business of stringent action along with imposing of PD Acts against them and also against those, who either directly or indirectly supports persons indulged in illegal businesses.
