Karimnagar: The specter of vector-bore disease looms large yet again as cases of viral fevers including dengue continue to trickle in from various parts of the north Telangana State, lMA State vice president Dr BN Rao said on Thursday.

He told The Hans India the unseasonal rains since the last few days have caused extensive damage to the human health in north Telangana. He urged people to take precautionary measures.

He said,"these continuous rains with an abrupt gap will result in stagnant of water on the roads, on vacant places, on streets which will increase breeding of mosquitos that will cause dengue and other viral fevers hence utmost precautions need to be taken."

Sources of mosquitoes to be curbed and awareness of keeping houses and surroundings cleaned by the municipal and Gram Panchayat staff.

His suggestions:

1. Drain water from the house and keep home dry

Remove and prevent all conditions favourable to mosquitoes breeding at all levels

Asha workers Anganwadi and women welfare staff to be involved in the creation of danger of vector-borne diseases

2. Print and electronic media used for bringing awareness on danger of mosquitoes bites, dengue and other diseases like malaria and viral fevers.

3. District admission and DMHO should involve

4. Patients of dengue and other viral fevers should be taken care of

5. Municipal workers have great role to play
