KCR puts onus on KTR to continue winning streak in ZPTC elections

Hyderabad: Chief Minister and TRS supremo K Chandrashekar Rao has entrusted the responsibility of the ZP elections to party's working president K T Rama Rao.

The TRS working president will coordinate with the party MLAs and the general secretaries and ensure the party wins maximum ZPTC and MPTC seats.

According to sources, the TRS working president would be working strategy to make sure the party wins maximum number of posts of chairpersons of Zilla Parishad.

The Chief Minister during a meeting of the party leaders asked the party leaders to shed the differences and work for the party and they would be rewarded with nominated posts.

The chief minister has given responsibility of two districts to each minister. Former ministers and general secretaries of the party have also been given responsibilities of some districts.

Former ministers like T Harish Rao (Siddipet, Medak), J Ramanna (Adilabad), P Mahender Reddy (Vikarabad) have also been given responsibilities of their respective districts.

KTR has been spearheading the campaign of the party ever since the GHMC elections in 2016 and the party has also succeeded in achieving the target one or the other.

The TRS working president has been successful in fixing the targets and achieving the desired results. During the GHMC elections, KTR had said that the party would be winning in 100 divisions and the party has won in 99 divisions.

Similarly, even in the Assembly elections in 2018 the party won 88 seats after claiming to win 100 seats. The party is hopeful of getting 16 out of the 17 Lok Sabha seats in the State.

"The party wants to continue the lucky trend in the last few elections where KTR had taken the responsibility and the party has won all the elections," said a TRS leader.

He recalled that it was KTR who started the meetings for Lok Sabha before Chief Minister KCR could take over the campaign.

The Election Commission is slated to release schedule for the ZPTC and MPTC elections on April 20.

The elections for 535 ZPTCs and 5,817 MPTCs would be held in three phases and results would be declared after May 23, the day of results of the Lok Sabha elections.

KTR has already convened a meeting of the general secretaries of the party and gave necessary instructions.

Sources said that the ZPs elections are fought on the local leaders and if the party can concentrate on the good leaders it has better chances of winning maximum number of posts.
