Let us realise KCR's dream of 33% forest cover


Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Minister for IT and Municipal Administration and Sircilla MLA KT Rama Rao planted saplings on the outskirts of Turkapalli and Avanur villages near Lower Manair dam in Mustabad mandal on Friday, as part of sixth phase of Haritha Haram programme.
Sircilla: Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Minister for IT and Municipal Administration and Sircilla MLA KT Rama Rao planted saplings on the outskirts of Turkapalli and Avanur villages near Lower Manair dam in Mustabad mandal on Friday, as part of sixth phase of Haritha Haram programme.
Speaking on the occasion, IT Minister KT Rama Rao said the dream of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is to have 33 percent of forest cover against the present 20 per cent in the district. To increase the forest cover, as many as 1.40 crore of saplings were planted in the district till date. Very soon urban forest block will be started in Haridas Nagar along with seed centre in Avunur village.
"About 11 check dams will be constructed on Manair river and Muddikunta and Mustabad lakes will be filled with water very soon. By next year, Sircilla district will witness full of Manair water and farmers will not face any problems for irrigating their fields."
Minister KTR said even during the pandemic corona situation, the State government has purchased grains from farmers on a record-level only to bail them out of their problems.
"As Sircilla MLA, it is my responsibility to place the district on top position. There is no politics in the plantation drive only lot of benefits, which will be derived by the future generations." He gave call that all women should participate actively in Haritha Haram programme and should make it a grand success.
Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said that Haritha haram programme is an asset to the entire nation. Everyone should plant saplings in front of their houses, he appealed. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is taking great programmes unlike any other Chief Minister in the country. Several welfare schemes for all sections of people such as Kalyana Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak, KCR Kits, sheep and fish rearing, Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima schemes were introduced by him for the wellbeing of all sections of people, he stated.
Pocharam said so far 172 crore saplings have been planted across the State to fulfil the CM's dream of planting around 230 crore saplings. When all the people were suffering from coronavirus attack, it the TRS government, which came forward to help the poor and needy by sanctioning Rs 1,500
and distributing 12 kg rice, he
reminded.
