speaking with the media here on Tuesday, the Police Commissioner said that he took the decision after receiving several complaints about alcohol consumption in public places, talking obscene language on the streets, causing embarrassment to the common people of all sections. Hence the police department decided to continue liquor ban till March 2 and the ban may continue if the situation not improves.

The CP warned that serious action will be taken on those, who violate the rules. He also said that prohibition on the use of DJ sound system in the district will be extended and the orders have been issued to this extent.

In order to protect children, elderly, patients, students and noise pollution from heavy sounds of DJ, he wanted the people to take permission from the division ACPs before using the mikes and DJs for public meetings and other programmes.
