Addressing the ward councillors, special officers and other municipal staff, the District Collector said that they have appointed one special officer for 10 municipal wards and also a team of municipal staff have been appointed to identify the works to be taken up under the 15-day action plan programme. The Collector directed the concerned municipality authorities to conduct padayatra in the morning and identify the open places inhabited by unwanted bushes, open and overflowing drains, low-lying and hanging electrical wires, bending electrical poles, abandoned and dilapidated buildings or walls, open abandoned wells and pits etc. He also directed the local municipal authorities and the ward councillors to prepare a green action plan ward wise so that saplings could be planted along the sides of the wards and colonies.
"As the 30-day action plan has been implemented successfully across more than 750 villages in the district, in the same way, the municipal authorities along with local representatives, must make the 15-day urban action plan a grand success and ensure that the Bhootpur municipality gets a complete face change in the next few days," said the Collector.
Devarkadra MLA Ala Venkateshwar Reddy also urged the public representatives to support the local municipal authorities and mobilise and motivate the public to take part in the programme and extend their helping hand.
The Collector also directed the officials to remove the unwanted trees in the open plots and also raze the abandoned structures. The Collector also directed the municipal authorities to give notices to all those with open plots having unwanted trees and ask them to remove them at with their own cost or else if they do not respond, the municipal authorities themselves would remove the same and later collect the cost from the concerned owners. "We are also very strict against those who dump their household garbage in the open drains and at corners of the street. If anyone is caught doing so, a fine of Rs 500 would be imposed," said the Collector, while directing the municipal authorities during the launch of 15-day action plan programme.
