Mahbubnagar: National Highway works hit land acquisition roadblock
Minister Srinivas Goud expresses concern over slow pace of work.
Mahbubnagar: Expressing concern over the slow pace of road construction works on the National Highway 167 between Jadcherla and Mahbubnagar, Excise, Tourism and Youth Welfare Minister Srinivas Goud ordered officials to expedite the the 4-lane road construction and complete the same within one year. The Excise Minister also gave a call to the people of Mahbubnagar district to extend their helping hand for the expansion of National Highway passing through the district headquarters.
"The main issue which is slowing up works in the Mahbubnagar district headquarters is due to delay in land acquisition," however, the Minister said that if the people of the district resolve together and come out with a open mind and help in the government's endeavour to expand the National Highway, it would completely change the face of district, observed Srinivas Goud.
During a recent review in Hyderabad with the National Highway authorities and concerned engineers, Srinivas Goud directed them to take up the works at a speedier pace and ensure that it is completed in the set time period.
In fact, except for the stretch between Jadcherla and Mahbubnagar, the entire works on the National Highway 167 connecting Guntur in Andhra Pradesh to Raichur in Karnataka passing across Telangana have been completed more than 80 per cent. But the works are going on a slow place in major urban areas. For instance, the road works in major towns like Kalwakurthy, Jadcherla and Mahbubnagar districts is getting delayed due to land acquisition problems. While the entire stretch from Guntur to Raichur is a two- lane highway, the stretch between Jadcherla and Mahbubnagar district is a 4-lane stretch and special funds have also been allocated by the central government for this stretch.
"If the 4-lane stretch between Jadcherla and Mahbubnagar district is completed it will completely change the face of Mahbubnagar district. All through the 16 Km stretch green plantation, lighting and beautifications at the junctions in all the urban areas will be taken up," informed the Excise Minister.
K Srinivas, National Highway Executive Engineer, Ravindra Kumar National highway Deputy Engineer, and National Highway supervisor Ram Kumar took part in the review meeting on the status of construction of the National Highway.
