Minute-to-minute vigilance to be kept for Ganesh immersion in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A total of 21,000 police personnel, including city police, district police and Central forces have been deployed for final Ganesh immersion at Hussain Sagar on Thursday.
There is a good coordination with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to make the event peaceful and hassle- free, said city Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar on Wednesday.
Anjani Kumar, speaking to the media, said till Wednesday morning a total of 17,000 idols were immersed at Tank Bund. The main route which is 18.9 km starting from Balapur to Hussain Sagar is very crucial and there will be a bumper to bumper movement of the vehicles carrying Ganesh idols for immersion at Tank Bund on Thursday.
Ninety per cent of the idol immersion would be conducted only at Tank Bund, the Police Commissioner said.All the required arrangements have made for the event by deploying cranes, fire engines, ambulances, professional swimmers etc, at the tank Bund with the coordination of GHMC.
There is a joint control room of city police and GHMC at Basheer Bagh Police Commissionerate office to keep a watch on minute-to-minute activity of immersion. So far, more than three lakh CCTV cameras were installed around the city for a robust surveillance and at 'Bada Ganesh,' as many as 53 cameras were installed.
There are also 51 static cameras installed on the main route. With the help of these cameras at Tank Bund on Wednesday early hours, a pickpocket was nabbed within five minutes, said Anjani Kumar.
