Hyderabad: Telangana State Election Commission (TSEC) has re-fixed the poll hours of MPTC and ZPTC elections from 7 am to 4 pm in the Left Wing extremist effected districts and mandals.

The polling time has been reduced by one hour for 217 MPTCs in Phase-I, 218 in Phase-II and 205 MPTCs in Phase-III in various mandals of Kumarambheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jayashankar Bhupalpalli and Mulugu districts. While the poling for Phase-I will be on May 6, for Phase-II on May 10 and Phase-III on May 14.

Earlier, the State Election Commission had fixed poll timings from 7 am to 5 pm. However, Telangana Director General of Police M. Mahender Reddy wrote a letter to the Commission on May 2 requesting it re-fix the poll hours in the left wing extremist effected districts and Mandals in order to move polling personnel and polling material safely in the day light from polling area to destination in time. In the recently held elections to State Legislative Assembly and Parliament also the poll hours of the said Mandals were fixed from 7.00 AM to 4.00 PM. After careful examination, the Election Commission has accepted the request and re-fixed the poll hours.
