Official negligence delays construction of Vykuntadhams in villages
Lack of proper supervision by the village panchayats and the negligence of officials concerned, the scheme of construction works of burial grounds (Vykuntadham) sponsored by the Central government is going on at a snail’s pace and without maintaining quality in the materials used in Manakondur mandal of Karimnagar district.
Manakondur: Lack of proper supervision by the village panchayats and the negligence of officials concerned, the scheme of construction works of burial grounds (Vykuntadham) sponsored by the Central government is going on at a snail's pace and without maintaining quality in the materials used in Manakondur mandal of Karimnagar district.
The central government had sanctioned funds of Rs1 lakh each for the construction of Vykuntadhams in every village under Manakondur mandal in November, 2017, under Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGREGS).
The village panchayats of respective villages were given responsibility of construction of Vykantadhams. The villager panchayats started the works but they are going on at a snail's pace in many villages. In Pochampalli Laxmipur, Lalithapur, Vegurupalli, Munjampalli and Veldi villages the construction works of Vykuntadhams have not yet started.
Where as in Rangampet, Jaggaiapalli and Chenjarla villages, weeds which are grown in identified land are removed and leveling of soil is done while in Vannaram village the works at pillar stages and in Kondapalkala, Gattududenapalli and Lingapur the works are at a halfway stage and in Manakondur, Pachhunur and Kelleda villages the construction works of Vykuntadhams are at the final stage.
Only in six villages Srinvasnagar, Gangipalli, Ootur, Maddikunta, Annaram and Khadargudem villages the construction works of Vykuntadhams were completed and are in use.
The people of respective villages alleged that even after nearly two years from the time of sanctioning of funds by the Central government, due to lack of proper supervision and negligence of local ruling bodies and the officials concerned the construction works are going on at a slow pace in many villages.
The village panchayats and public representatives are also not exerting pressure on the concern officials to speed up the works, they added.
They demanded the State government to take initiation and order concern officials for taking immediate steps for completion of construction works of Vykuntadhams in the respective villages. The Executive Engineer of Manakondur Sathya Prakash said that under the Rural Employement Guarantee scheme Vykuntadhams are sanctioned to all the villages in Mankondur mandal. The construction works of Vykuntadhams were inaugurated by the local representatives of respective villages and the works are in progress in many villages. The construction works of Vykuntadhams in six villages were completed and in five villages the works are at final stage and in the remaining villages the works in progress and will be completed within 15 days, they said.
