Vikarabad: District Collector Masrat Khanam Aisha sought the cooperation of sectoral officers and police officials to conduct elections in a peaceful manner and take all necessary measures not to violate the model code of conduct.

She held a meeting with sectoral officers, police officials and district Superintendent of Police at Ambedkar Bhavan here on Wednesday.

Masrat Khanam advised officials to create awareness among people on election guidelines and added that campaigning near polling booths was not allowed. The Collector asked sectoral officers to arrange all the facilities at polling centers and inform precautions to be taken by elections staff on polling day and a day before the polls.

District SP Narayana advised police officials to conduct patrolling to ensure no campaign from April 9. He appealed to all officials to work with cooperation to conduct elections peacefully. Narayana said they would appoint polling staff in sensitive polling centers to prevent untoward incidents.

Joint Collector Aruna Kumari, RDOs Vishwanatham, Venu Madhav, DSPs Shirisha, Ramachandrudu, Ravinder Reddy, sectoral officers, Tahsildars, police officials and others were present.
