Sports persons must take both victory or defeat with a sense of sportsmanship, said Joint Collector A Bhaskar Rao, after flagging off 65th School Games Federation under 17 inter-district volleyball tournaments at NTR mini stadium in Nirmal on Friday.

Participating as chief guest, Bhaskar Rao said victory and defeat are common in sports and the defeated should not get disappointed but must try to win.
He said that stadiums were constructed in Nirmal, Khanapur and Bhainsa towns to encourage sports among the students. Expert physical directors (PDs) and teachers are providing training to sports people. Playing sports will develop children both physically and mentally and one can learn culture of different regions.
Superintendent of Police C Shashidhar Raju said sports will develop activeness and physical fitness and students should focus on sports along with education.
He urged the students to participate in both State and national level sports competitions using the facilities provided by the government and win medals for the district.
District library Chairman Rajendar said after the formation of separate Telangana, the State government is showing special interest on sports. In the past, national-level volleyball competitions were held in the district with the special interest of Minister Indrakaran Reddy and he modernised Nirmal mini stadium with an estimation cost of Rs 30 lakhs. He suggested the students not to waste time on social media like WhatsApp and to focus on their education.
Nirmal MPP Rameshwar Reddy, Additional SP Dakshinamurthy, sports development officer Muthanna, district education officer Pranitha, Subhas, Ramesh, SGF secretary Srinivas, physical director Charan, sports students from Adilabad, Nirmal, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Ranga Reddy, Mahabubnagar and Medak districts were present on the occasion.
