Mahbubnagar: Urging the students of the Palamuru University to plant more trees to protect the environment and future generations from drought and floods, the professors of the Department of Integrated Chemistry at the varsity took part in a plantation programme on the varsity premises on Tuesday.
Professor Ram Mohan, who has been recently appointed as Head of the department, had taken up the plantation programme and motivated the students and professors of his department to plant saplings in a big way. "With largescale cutting down of trees in the name of development, the greenery and forest areas are getting vanished. Because of which, there are no proper timely rains and in some areas, due of lack of trees, floods are being witnessed. If every individual takes it as a responsibility to plant a tree, then we would be able to protect our environment and save our future generations from extinction," said Prof Pindi Pawan Kumar, PU Registrar.
As part of the plantation programme, the teaching and non-teaching staff along with the students took part in the programme enthusiastically.
