Reinstallation of Ambedkar Statue: VH to hold all-party meet today
Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao on Friday announced that he would hold an all-party meeting to discuss the issue of installation of BR Ambedkar statue at Panjagutta crossroads here.
Hyderabad: Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao on Friday announced that he would hold an all-party meeting to discuss the issue of installation of BR Ambedkar statue at Panjagutta crossroads here. He said the meeting would be held at Somajiguda Press Club on Saturday.
He addressed an open letter to all the leaders of the political parties. In his letter, he said the police had stopped the activists of Jai Bhim organisation from installing the statue on April 12 last year.
Hurt at this, he, along with other party leaders like Bollu Kishan and Ramulu Naik staged a protest demanding that the government should allow installation of Ambedkar statue immediately.
The Congress leader stated he was arrested for staging a dharna for re-installation of the statue. He said he tried to install another Ambedkar statue on June 18, 2019.
Again, I was stopped by the police.Rao said they would discuss the issue again and chalk out the future course of action to install the statue at the same place.
