Secunderabad: Taking advantage of the sparse vehicle movement due to the lockdown, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken up road construction and re carpeting works under the Comprehensive Road Maintenance Programme (CRMP) in Secunderabad zone.

Speaking to The Hans India, Ravi Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Secunderabad zone, said, "The lockdown has provided an opportunity to complete the construction of roads and other pending development activities. Under CRMP project, road construction and re-carpeting works have started and under this project 18-km target is fixed and 40 per cent of works completed and by the end of May or second week of June, the remaining work would be completed."

An amount of Rs 38 crore was sanctioned for this project and already works worth Rs 10 crore have been completed. Road construction works are in progress in Sitaphalmandi, Warisguda, Parsigutta, near Shenoy Nursing home road, East Marredpally to Attaguda road. Mettuguda Junction road, Tarnaka road and Lalapet road toward Mettuguda road.
