RTC JAC defers Sadak Bandh; Ashwathama ends hunger stir
The TSRTC JAC has postponed its proposed ‘Sadak Bandh’ on Tuesday in wake of the High Court orders to the Labour Court to settle the issue within two weeks.
Hyderabad: The TSRTC JAC has postponed its proposed 'Sadak Bandh' on Tuesday in wake of the High Court orders to the Labour Court to settle the issue within two weeks.
RTC JAC convener E Ashwathama Reddy said that they have decided to postpone Tuesday's 'Sadak bandh' as per the Court's directions to Labour Court to settle the issue within two weeks.
"We will study the court copy on Tuesday and take a decision on strike after meeting. There should be a cordial relation between government and workers," said Ashwathama Reddy.
The RTC strike would continue on Tuesday also and there would be a meeting of all the JAC unions. The workers have been asked to take up protests at depots.
Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) chief M Kodandaram said that they have made the RTC convener and co-convener K Raji Reddy to end their hunger strike on the directions of the Court.
At one hand the health condition of JAC leaders was deteriorating and on the other hand there is no response from the government.
"We requested the leaders to end their strike keeping in mind their health," said Kodandaram. However, he said that the workers strike would continue.
Earlier, the JAC leaders ended their hunger strike at Osmania General Hospital on Monday. Opposition party leaders including Chada Venkat Reddy, Tammineni Veerabhadram, Mohan Reddy, M Kodandaram, L Ramana and others convinced the leaders to end their hunger strike.
Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) president Manda Krishna Madiga offered juice to Ashwathama Reddy and Raji Reddy at Osmania Hospital.
The JAC leaders were advised by the doctors to end their strike since their sugar and BP levels were going up and it would be risky for them to continue their strike.
The leaders were under strike for the last three days. The RTC workers are under strike for the last 45 days and with no response from the government, the leaders took indefinite hunger strike.
The leaders were arrested by police and shifted to Osmania Hospital. However, the leaders continued their strike in hospital, which ended on Monday evening.
