Vikarabad: Rural voters will play a key role in deciding the fate of candidates in the parliamentary elections. Of the seven Assembly segments in the Chevella Parliamentary constituency in the district, the total number of voters is 24.42 lakh, of which 9.12 lakh are rural voters.
Thus, the role of rural voters in the parliamentary elections becomes more crucial. Political parties are leaving no stone unturned to woo rural voters with the campaigns in the villages. Efforts are being made to attract rural voters in every possible manner.
There are 7 Assembly segments in the Chevella Parliamentary constituency, with 24.42 lakh voters. These include Serilingampally, Rajendranagar and Maheshwaram constituencies in the capital city, while the rest of the four constituencies are Tandur, Vikarabad and Chevalla rural constituencies. The major political parties have focused their attention on these four constituencies, as the majority of the rural areas are close to the city but are rural.
Of these four constituencies, 38 per cent of the total voters are in the fray. Leaders of the respective parties have intensified their efforts to gain support from the rural voters.
Political parties have begun their efforts to increase the polling percentage in the rural areas this time. The main contest will be between TRS nominee Dr Gadam Ranjith Reddy and Congress candidate Konda Vishweshwar Reddy. In this background, both of them are taking the campaign further by their second-class leaders of their own political parties.
TRS working president KTR already participated in the road shows in major towns of the constituency. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will participate in a public meeting in Vikarabad on Monday.
