Medak: District Superintendent of Police Deepthi Chandana called upon the people to celebrate Sankranti festival with fervour, taking all safety measures. Citing the incidents of deaths and accidents while playing kites, she exhorted them not to use prohibited manza.

"The prohibited manza has been causing deaths in many incidents. Not only children, several innocent birds are also affected by this," she said. When the manza gets entangled with live wires, kids unknowingly get contacted with them dangerously, she said.

The SP advised people to fly kites in open areas, away electrical wires and transformers. Avoid high-rise buildings where parapet walls are short, she suggested. The SP wished the people of the district to enjoy the festival with safety measures.
