Karimnagar: On World Environment Day, Joint Collector Shyam Prasad Lal unveiled a poster on environmental protection at his chamber here on Wednesday.
The initiative was taken by a voluntary service organisation and Telangana State Pollution Control Board Regional Office, Ramagundam.
The Joint Collector said that air pollution is one of the major environmental problems faced today. Vehicles, chemical and mining industries, thermal power production and other construction works release air pollutants and contaminate the environment. So, people should be aware and cautious to avoid these pollutants by implementing a few measures like using public mode of transportation, planting saplings as part of the government's Haritha Haram programme, understanding the concept of reduce, recycle and reuse, he explained.
Voluntary service organisation director Valasa Subhash, Red Cross Society secretary Radhakrishna Reddy, Arjun awardee Madhasu Srinivasa Rao, Karimnagar district volunteer foundation forum general secretary Konkati Ravi and others were present during the unveiling programme.
