Teachers, employees demand PRC, promotions
Submit representations to Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar
Hyderabad: Telangana Prantha Upadhyaya Sanghm (TPUS) State president Hanumantha Rao and general secretary N Suresh and BJP Retired Teachers, Employees Cell (BJP-RTEC) chairman and former MLC B Mohan Reddy and BJP MLC N Ramchander Rao met State Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar on Tuesday and submitted separate representations seeking the State government intervention to address the grievances of the employees and teachers.
Ramchander Rao said that the teachers, lecturers and other non-teaching staff of the private educational institutions were the worst affected during the Covid pandemic, the consequent lockdown and the closer of educational institutions.
The teaching and non-teaching staff were not paid their salaries besides the employment of several terminated.
He said reports indicated several of them lost their jobs have committed suicide and took up odd jobs like labourers, selling vegetables etc for their livelihood.
He called for State government's intervention to direct the management of corporate private educational institutions to reinstate their employees and pay their salaries and extend financial assistance as it has been done in case of others. Besides, to exempt the budget schools and colleges from paying property tax and other required payments to the government. Setting a deadline of December 31 to resolve the pending issues, the TPUS in its representation with 16 point-demands asked the State government for implementation of PRC with 63 per cent fitment and scrapping of Contributory Pension Scheme and restoring the old pension scheme.
The TPUS asked to take immediate steps for the promotions to the categories of SGTS, SA, GHM and MEOs, and general, inter-district and inter-state transfers.
It sought to take up the categorisation of the district, zonal, multi-zonal and state posts following the new Presidential Orders following the creation of new districts in the State.
