Telangana deputy speaker Padma Rao Goud tested positive for coronavirus

Hyderabad: A day after the state home minister infected with coronavirus, deputy speaker Padmarao Goud tested positive for the virus on Monday.

Along with Rao, four of his family members were also infected with the coronavirus and all of them were put under home quarantine at their residence in Secunderabad. Padma Rao who was suffering from throat pain has undergone COVID-19 tests and found positive for the virus.

The number of coronavirus cases among the political representatives has been on the rise in the state. MLAs Muthireddy, Bajireddy Govardhan Reddy, Ganesh Gupta, minister Mahmood Ali, deputy speaker Padmarao, Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao and Gudur Narayana Reddy infected the virus till date.

On Monday, Telangana recorded 973 fresh cases taking the total number of cases to 15,394. Currently, there are 9,559 active cases in the state with a total of 5,582 recoveries.
