Karimnagar: To prevent the spread of deadly coronavirus, which is creating disaster by killing thousands of people across the world, India has observed total shut down following Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's call for Janata Curfew on Sunday.

Following the orders of the Chief Minister, the united Karimnagar district observed Janata Curfew strictly, with almost all the people remaining indoors. All sections of people irrespective of political parties participated in the Janata Curfew. As half of the Covind-19 positive cases are recorded from Karimnagar district, the people of the district with the guidelines issued by the government had voluntarily remained indoors from the past one week.

The district administration by declaring high alert started conducting health survey in all the houses within three kilometres radius in the Collectorate and Mukarampura areas where the Indonesian team stayed for three days. By identifying suspected persons, the health officials conducted screening tests in the Government Main Hospital at the district headquarters.

Earlier on Saturday, BJP State president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar visited various colonies and appealed the people to make Janata Curfew successful.

All the business centres, shopping malls, cinema halls and markets were closed in view of Janata Curfew in Rajanna Sircilla, Peddapalli and Jagtial districts on Sunday. All the RTC buses remained in bus depots.

In Jagtial district, about 30 marriages were postponed and in Buggam mandal, people voluntarily cancelled Pochamma Bonalu, which are about to held on Sunday (March 22) in view of Janata Curfew.

Sircilla District Collector D Krishna Bhaskar and Joint Collector Anjaiah remained in their houses to observe Janata Curfew.

Karimnagar District Collector K Shashanka and Police Commissioner VB Kamalasan Reddy had visited various places and monitored the functioning of police personnel and restricted people not to come out of their houses.

All the trains running from Karimnagar railway station were cancelled. People came out at 5 pm in the evening and clapped to express their solidarity to the health officials, staff members, sanitation workers and media personnel, who are working effortlessly to prevent the spread of deadly Corona virus.
