Vemulapally (Nalgonda): Residents of Shettipalem village of Vemulapally mandal in the district staged protest against the reopening of the liquor shop in the village on Saturday.

After getting permission through tenders, the organisers tried to inaugurate the liquor shop in the old wine shop but got stiff resistance from the villagers.

Speaking on this occasion, the village women said that all the villagers including men, women and kids have to move in front of the wine shop and staged protest. They said that the women of the village had suffered a lot with drinkers and eve teasers near the wine shop.

They expressed anger over neglecting their pleas with regard to permission to wine shop in Shettypalem village by officials including Excise officials and district administration. On information, local police rushed to the spot and had discussions with protesting villagers and controlled the situation by assuring them to bring the matter to the notice of officials concerned for necessary action.
