Wanaparthy: 800 girl, students learn how to defend themselves
Wanaparthy: As many as 800 girl students were provided free karate training at Government Boys Junior College grounds in Wanaparthy on Wednesday.
The initiative of providing free training of karate to the girl students was taken up by Wanaparthy district Superintendent of Police Apoorva Rao, who had directed the concerned Police department to conduct special physical training, karate martial arts and techniques of self defence for the girl students of all the government schools and colleges in the district.
While taking part as the chief guest during the programme, KM Kiran Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Wanaparthy said that this initiative is taken up by the Police department to instil a sense of strength and confidence among the girls that they are capable of defending their own self. "We have been seeing various cases in the State and country where the girls are being molested and subjected to violence at the hands of unscrupulous elements. In view of the above, the Police department as per the directions of Wanaparthy SP Apoorva Rao have embarked on providing free training in Karate to all the girl children," said KM Kiran Kumar, DSP, Wanaparthy
"The training programme mainly aims at preparing the girls both mentally and physical fit to deal with any kind of untoward eventuality against them. Apart from providing awareness on how to deal with tough situations, and to escape from any untoward incident, we are giving them both mental counselling to make them psychologically strong and at the same time providing them Karate training, so that they can at least defend themselves from the hands of criminals," she added.
The Police department officials informed that the free Karate training programme for the school and college girls will be conducted for about a week and they will teach each and every girl how to defend herself during the week-long training programme.
Apart from Wanaparthy DSP, Surya Nayak Circle Inspector, Sub Inspector Venkatesh Goud, Kavita Reddy, principal of Govt Girls Junior college Wanaparthy, Maddileti, Principal of Government Boys Junior College and Karate Master Prabhakar Goud, PRO Raja Goud, Home Guard Krishna Sagar and members of She Teams from Wanaparthy took part in the programme.
