In a bid to help the needy, the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Warangal Chapter, is to set up a blood storage centre at Medaram, where a huge number of devotees congregate for the famous Sammakka Saralamma jatara scheduled to begin on Wednesday (February 5).

Warangal: In a bid to help the needy, the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Warangal Chapter, is to set up a blood storage centre at Medaram, where a huge number of devotees congregate for the famous Sammakka Saralamma jatara scheduled to begin on Wednesday (February 5). The IRCS management sent an ambulance, blood storage equipment, reverse osmosis (RO) water purifier plant and a team of volunteers to serve the devotees at the jatara on Tuesday. The IRCS team to extend its services for the devotees from the premises of Government Hospital, located besides Sammakka Saralamma altars.

According to the IRCS management, two units each of all the blood groups have been made available for the devotees in case of exigency. This apart, the IRCS to install a RO water purifier unit at the RTC Bus Point to supply drinking water to devotees free of cost. It's learnt that the initiative by the IRCS Warangal Chapter was at the behest of its State unit.

Meanwhile, the IRCS has also to serve the devotees at Agrampahad jatara, known as mini Medaram. The IRCS has sent a team of doctors, pharmacists and other staff to Agrampahad to organise a medical camp during the jatara. The IRCS is also to distribute medicines worth around Rs 1 lakh to needy free of cost.
