Valligonda (Yadadri-Bhongir): A young tenant farmer in fearing of his inability to pay the debts committed suicide by consuming pesticide. The incident took place at Vellvarthy village of Valigonda mandal in the district on Thursday afternoon and the deceased farmer was identified as Pittala Ashok (27). According to sources, Ashok took six acres land on lease from a farmer, Saragandla Raju, of the same village and cultivated cotton. However, the colour of the cotton was changed due to the recent untimely rains.
Ashok took the extreme step fearing his inability to repay the debts after he knew that he would incur losses as the total crop was damaged. On Thursday, he committed suicide by consuming pesticide at the land that he took on lease. Upon receiving information, the police rushed to the spot, and after completing the formalities, shifted the dead body to the government hospital in Ramannapet for post-mortem.
