10 held; red sanders logs worth 5 lakh seized
Venkatagiri police raided a hideout in Palemkota Reserve Forest on Saturday and took 10 smugglers into custody and seized 19 red sander logs weighing 398 kilos worth Rs 5 lakh, an Innova car worth Rs 5 lakh, and two motorbikes worth Rs 1 lakh from the accused.
Nellore: Venkatagiri police raided a hideout in Palemkota Reserve Forest on Saturday and took 10 smugglers into custody and seized 19 red sander logs weighing 398 kilos worth Rs 5 lakh, an Innova car worth Rs 5 lakh, and two motorbikes worth Rs 1 lakh from the accused. The accused were identified as M Subbarayudu, K Srinivasulu, A Mahindra, M Balaraju, B Kumari, Shaik Nayab Rasool, P Venkata Rao, M Venkatesh, Shaik Mohammad Rafi, and R Subrahmanyam.
Addressing the media at Venkatagiri police station, Gudur DSP J Babu Prasad said that Venkatagiri police conducted raids at Palemkota Reserve Forest on Saturday. They found red sander logs ready for transportation to the Chennai city from the forest area and the police seized the stocks and taken the accused into the custody, said the DSP.
