The Indian Coast Guard is working in close coordination with other stakeholders including Andhra Pradesh state administration, NDRF and Indian Navy for taking effective relief operations in cyclone Fani affected areas.

Visakhapatnam: The Indian Coast Guard is working in close coordination with other stakeholders including Andhra Pradesh state administration, NDRF and Indian Navy for taking effective relief operations in cyclone Fani affected areas. As many as 12 well-equipped teams at Kolkata, Frazerganj and Haldia have been positioned in West Bengal.

Coastal belt of Odisha is likely to be most affected and hence, four teams each at Paradip and Gopalpur are ready to render immediate assistance. In addition, eight teams are embarked onboard two of the frontline ships at Visakhapatnam and Chennai to render assistance at short notice. Two aircrafts are kept ready for instantaneous mobilisation of lifesaving equipment including inflatable lifeboats, lifebuoys and life jackets at Chennai.

Special community interaction programmes have been conducted jointly by Coast Guard, Marine Police and Fisheries department all along the Coast of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal advising fisher folks and local population to take necessary precautions during landfall of cyclone Fani.
