54,000 houses to be constructed in Nellore in Ist phase: Collector KVN Chakradhar Babu

Nellore: District Collector K V N Chakradhar Babu said that the state government has accorded permission for constructing 54,000 houses during the first phase in the district. Addressing at a meeting in Vinjamuru on Thursday, he appreciated the officials of Panchayat Raj, revenue, municipal and DWMA, who planned the layouts for distribution of the house sites.

He suggested the women beneficiaries to check the house sites allocated for them and verify the boundaries as mentioned in the patta. He said the government was giving liberty for constructing the house, either then can construct on their own, or request the government to do so. They can also avail material from the government and construct the house and the government accords permission for it, the Collector said.

Chakradhar Babu also said the beneficiaries have to verify the quality of construction in case the house is being constructed by the agency. He said each beneficiary is being benefitted with Rs 2.80 lakh worth house site and house in the mandal. He said 1,256 beneficiaries benefited in the area and another 117 people have applied for the sites. The collector said 16,737 farmers of Udayagiri area were provided a cyclone relief of Rs. 14 crore from the government. Rice is being supplied to the households of the cardholders from February, he said.

Local MLA M Chandrasekhar Reddy said the collector has been extending support for the selection of layouts and distribution of house sites to the poor. He requested the collector to consider starting a college in Vinjamur area for the convenience of local students. Further, the Collector and MLA visited the layouts and interacted with the beneficiaries. Atmakur RDO G Suvarnamma and others were present.
