750 cr sanctioned to AP for fisheries development

Vijayawada: Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy, Giriraj Singh has said that the central government has sanctioned Rs.750 crore for the development of fisheries in Andhra Pradesh and efforts were on to sanction another Rs.150 crore to the State. Giriraj Singh visited the Rajiv Gandhi Fisheries Aquaculture Centre in Unguturu mandal in Krishna district on Thursday.
The officials have explained the fish cultivation in the state and the district. Later, speaking to the media persons, the minister said the central government is trying to increase the fish production from 3 tonnes per acre to 6 tonnes per acre on average in the country and sanctioning funds for the development of fisheries and marine products exports.
He said that the Union government has earned Rs.47,000 crore on aqua exports since the BJP government came to power. The Fisheries department officials, MPEDA officials have explained about the Rajiv Gandhi Aquaculture Centre and production of fish.
