Amaravati Parirakshana Samithi to observe Deeksha tomorrow
- Fight for protection of capital Amaravati enters 200th day tomorrow
- Samithi Chairman Siva Reddy says except ruling party YSRCP, all parties in the State are opposing the shifting of administrative capital to Vizag
Vijayawada: Amaravati Parirakshana Samithi (APS) has decided to observe one-day Deeksha on July 4 across 200 cities and towns in India and other parts of world as the agitation completes 200 days mark demanding the state government to continue Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh.
The APS launched agitation 200 days ago in Vijayawada, Amaravati, Guntur and other places opposing the state government's move to shift administrative capital to Visakhapatnam.
Addressing media at the APS office in Auto Nagar on Thursday, APS Chairman A Siva Reddy said the Samithi and the supporters of Amaravati capital would pay tributes to those people, who lost their lives during the struggle for protection of capital Amaravati. He said it is shameful that the government is not responding to the agitation of the farmers, who gave their lands for construction of capital in Amaravati.
Siva Reddy said except YSRCP, all parties in the state are opposing the shifting of administrative capital to Vizag. He reminded that the YSRCP has earlier agreed to the proposal of the TDP for Amaravati capital and later changed its stand and decided to shift the capital to Vizag.
He appealed to the people and the supporters of capital Amaravati to participate in the Deeksha in Vijayawada, Amaravati and other cities and towns in AP and other parts of the world and make it a grand success.
