Amaravati: Rebel TDP MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsimohan got recognition as a special member and will get a separate seat in Assembly. Speaker T Sitaram accepted the plea of MLA Vamsi in on Tuesday in this regard.

The Speaker decided to start the question hour by giving a chance to Vamsi to speak of his differences with the TDP. Then the TDP raised a strong objection and later also staged a walkout.

TDP MLAs strongly opposed the Speaker's attitude sparking heated arguments. TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu also took part in the protest and alleged that the Assembly was turned into the YSRCP office.

But the Speaker strongly objected to it and explained his discretionary powers to give a chance to the MLAs to speak. Meanwhile, minister for legislative affairs Buggana Rajendranath Reddy also explained the legal position.

On the occasion, Vamsi said that he found fault with the attitude of the TDP in criticising the state government on the sand shortage problem. He said that the sand was not available during a particular period due to floods. But the TDP targeted the state government, he said.

Similarly, he appreciated the English medium education policy of the state government. He recalled that the TDP social media wing made allegations with derogatory comments.

He said that he could face a problem in his college days to study in English medium after completion of school education. But the TDP leadership has not accepted the ground realities due to the political interests, he said.

Moreover, the TDP has announced his suspension. In this backdrop, he said that he could not sail with the TDP MLAs. He requested the Speaker to treat him as a special member and also provide a special seat. The Speaker responded positively and said that he would consider his request. But the MLAs of TDP took strong exception leading to Speaker and TDP members engaging in war of words recalling their previous experiences.
