Ongole: The Andhra Bank Ongole zone officials organised a sports meet for the Ongole and Nellore district employees. The bank conducted a cricket tournament for the employees in the SSN Engineering College ground in Pernamitta.

The Ongole zone Deputy GM P Ramakrishna said a large number of employees participated in the sports meet from 100 branches in the Prakasam and Nellore districts. He said that participating in the sports help them relieve from the daily stress in the job and gives an opportunity to rejuvenate energy and work more actively in future.

He said that Andhra Bank made it a habit to conduct similar programmes for the welfare of employees. He said that the bank earned Rs 59 crore as profit for the last trimester and the credit goes to the employees who have put all their efforts.

Assistant general manager N Ganesh announced that with the spirit from the Dy GM Ramakrishna, they are conducting the cricket tournament as part of the sports meet. He said that the indoor games like shuttle badminton, chess, caroms, tennikoit etc will be held in the Hyderi Club on August 15 and the prize distribution will be held at the special programme on the evening of Independence Day at the conference hall in the main branch.

In the six teams participated in the tournament, Ongole Bulls and Nellore Lions reached the finals. The Nellore Lions won the toss and elected to bat and scored 98 runs for 4 wickets in 15 overs. Sudheer scored 46 runs while Vihari scored 12 runs.

The Ongole Bulls chased the score successfully and made 100 runs without loss of a wicket in just 12 overs, as Ramana scored 55 runs and Suresh scored 28 runs by remaining not out.

The bank AGMs P Simhachalam, Chandrareddy, union leaders B Srinivasa Reddy, PK Rajeswarsa Rao, S Rajesh Khanna, K Rajiv Ratan Dev, Lakshman Kumar Reddy, K Adiseshaiah, P Chiranjeevi and others participated in the meet along with the employees from Prakasam and Nellore branches and retired employees.
