Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh said that as per the instructions of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, there is a possibility of making changes in Amma Vodi till the fifth of this month. He was speaking at a press conference on Thursday, he said that they are preparing to launch the second installment of Amma Vodi on January 9, giving another chance to all those who are eligible. He said that the list of eligible candidates will be announced on the 6th.
He clarified that there was no truth in the propaganda made by Yellow Media that sanitation workers were not being given Amma Vodi. He said that Amma Vodi would be given to all sanitation workers. He said Rs 6,450 crore was spent on Ammo Vodi last year and this time the number of beneficiaries will increase with the relaxed rules.
He said 75 per cent of the attendance clause was removed this time due to coronavirus and assured that everyone who are eligible in last year are eligible for the second installment. "In the past, only those with a monthly income of Rs 5,000 at the rural level were eligible, but this time it has been increased to Rs 10,000 while in urban areas, the monthly income of beneficiaries is enhanced to Rs.12,000," minister said.
On the other, in the last year those who consume 200 units of electricity per month were eligible but this time, it has been increased to 300 units. With these relaxed regulations the second installment of Amma Vodi beneficiaries will inevitably grow.
