Guntur: Andhra Pradesh aspires to become Organic Food Production Hub of the country by 2023-24, said PV Ramana Murthy, director, Institute of Leadership Excellence and Governance. He inaugurated a two-day National Workshop on Best Practices at AP Human Resource Development Institute in Bapatla on Thursday.

AP is the only State in the country which has clocked an average growth rate of 11 per cent in the last four years despite facing droughts and cyclones, he added. Anantapur, Chittoor, Kurnool and Kadapa districts are fast-emerging as Horticulture Hub of the State, Murthy said.

The workshop is aimed at sharing of best practices in Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Dairying from different States and evolving strategies for scaling up, I Satynarayana Raju, who presided over the meeting said.

Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry Training Centre, Vijayawada Dr Vijayakumar Sarma, National Dairy Development Board Senior Manager Romy Jacob, Dr Subba Rao of Bapatla Agricultural College and others spoke at the inaugural session. Representatives from 14 States, National Dairy Development Board, Anand Milk Union, Gujarat, researchers and entrepreneurs participated.
