Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh government and GMR Group have signed an agreement for developing the Bhogapuram international airport.

The agreement was signed by representatives of both sides in the presence of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at his camp office at Tadepalli on Friday.

Special Chief Secretary (Industries) R Karikal Valaven inked the pact on behalf of the State government while GMR Chairman GBS Raju signed on behalf of GMR Airports Ltd (GAL) here on Friday.

The connectivity between Vizag and the airport will be developed and all steps will be taken for laying a Metro train line from the airport to city, the Chief Minister said.

GMR representatives said that the airport will be built as a landmark as per the wishes of the Chief Minister and they expressed happiness for getting the opportunity to build the airport from the place where they hail from.

"We will take the services of international firms in the venture and the work will be completed at the earliest," they said.

Industries Minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy, Chairperson of APIIC RK Roja and senior officials were present on the occasion.
