Tirupati: Besides engaging in wide range of banking services, Canara Bank is also taking up social service activities in a big way, said bank's Assistant General Manager Ramana Murthy.
A meeting was held in ZP High School, Renigunta to celebrate the 114th Foundation Day of the Bank and AGM Murthy garlanded the portrait of bank founder Subbarao Pai. He said that the bank began its operation in a humble manner with Rs 2000 capital in Mangalore in Karnataka.
It has now grown into one of the major public sector banks in the country with 6,300 branches having an annual business of Rs 10.37 lakhcrore. Divisional Manager Sudhakar, Karakambadi Branch Manager AL Murthy and others were present.
