Amaravati: The TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu demanded State government waive electricity bills for three months for the poor domestic consumers, in a press conference on Wednesday. Naidu said that the State government imposed a heavy burden on all sections of people on the name of the new dynamic tariff system for electricity bills, introduced from April 1 onwards. As people already suffered due to COVID19 lockdown, the government should not impose an additional burden on them, he observed.

Reminding the YSRCP of its election promise to reduce the tariff, Naidu deplored that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy lost all credibility and it was people's misfortune to go on suffering in all aspects after having voted this party to power a year ago.

He appealed the Government to revert to the old system of consumers' classification into A, B and C Groups based on their yearly average consumption. The newly introduced dynamic billing based Groups classification on each month consumption led to even poor people falling into higher groups.

Referring to cases and arrests of social media activists, Naidu said that the day would come when the YSRCP would be permanently arrested for its misdeeds. He added that the case against an elderly woman resident of Guntur was false.

On the ongoing inter-state river waters issue, he said that he completed the Pothireddypadu irrigation project.

Meanwhile, the TDP leader Varla Ramaiah alleged that an SC woman was denied work under MGNREGS, on caste discrimination. The party demanded action against the concerned field assistant and others. He alleged incident happened at Pedada village, Pedapudi mandal in East Godavari.
