Vijayawada: Former Chief Minister and TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu visited the flood-affected areas in Vijayawada city on Tuesday. He interacted with the residents of Geetanagar, Tarakaramanagar and Ramalingeswaranagar and inquired about flood relief operations.

He said that the State government hatched a conspiracy to submerge his residence by not regulating the flood properly. As a result, thousands of houses were submerged with floodwater. He wondered as to why the government was worried over the flood threat to his residence.

The owner of the house would get worried if the residence is inundated from floodwater, he said. He asked the State government to reveal the reasons as to why they were so bothered to see whether his residence was submerged or not.

"The flood is not natural. They intentionally wanted to submerge my residence. They stopped water and released it at once. But finally, they ended up in inundating houses of people living in low-lying areas. If water was released well in advance, the situation would have been different," he said.

Naidu flayed the State government for its failure to extend help to victims in the flood-affected areas. He lamented that the ministers and MLAs of YSR Congress were doing rounds around his residence instead of taking precautionary measures during the flood period.

He took strong objection to the decision of the government to close Anna Canteens. He said that the canteens would have provided food to flood victims. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy made several promises during the elections but no promise is becoming a reality now. Even the government failed to provide food to flood victims, he said.

He demanded that the government complete the construction of retaining wall immediately and allot pattas. People exchange their views with Naidu: On the occasion, the residents of the colonies shared their experiences with Chandrababu Naidu.

They said that the Minister for Water Resources visited them but later he did not do anything. They also criticised Chief Minister Y S Jagan for touring in America when they were facing problem due to floods. Naidu spent nearly 30 minutes with them and visited the entire area. Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas, MLA Gadde Rammohan, TDP leaders Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Devineni Avinash, B Arjunudu and several other leaders were present.
