The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a cyclone warning for coastal Puducherry, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh that a deep depression in Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a cyclone by Saturday evening and to a severe cyclone by Sunday evening.

Visakhapatnam: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a cyclone warning for coastal Puducherry, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh that a deep depression in Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a cyclone by Saturday evening and to a severe cyclone by Sunday evening.

Cyclone Fani named by Bangladesh is expected to hit AP coast on 30 April. With this, a red alert has been issued and fishermen are advised not to venture into the deep sea.

The sea condition will likely be very rough starting from Saturday. Very heavy rains, thunderstorms, winds with the speed reaching 90-110kms is expected to prevail along the coast from 29 April.

Cyclone Fani will be the second cyclone to hit AP coast after Cyclone Phethai, which made landfall at Kakinada in last December.
