Kurupam (Vizianagaram): This is a bitter pill for TDP in Kurupam (ST) constituency as the Election Commission has rejected the nomination filed by Janarthan Thatraj who is a close relative of senior leader S Vijayaramaraju Vijayaramaraju had worked as MLA between 2009-14 on behalf of Congress party and faced court cases over the genuinty of his caste.
Any how he is supposed to contest from TDP in the ensuing elections and filed papers. But N Jayaraj, a candidate of BJP has objected those papers and stated that the caste certificate which was submitted by Thatraj is invalid and appealed the Election Commission to disqualify him.
After many consultations with legal experts, the Election Commission has declared him disqualified. V Visveswara Rao, Returning Officer of Kurupam stated that they have rejected the nomination of Thatraj as there are disputes over his caste.
