Gaiety marks celestial wedding in Vontimitta

The divine couple were united in wedlock in Chaitra Chathurdasi 'Hasta Nakshatra Lagnam' at 8 pm at colorful Kalyanamandapam. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu along with his wife Buvaneswari attended the divine wedding and presented Mutyala Talambralu, Pattuvastrams on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh government to the divine couple in line with the tradition.
Governor E S L Narasimhan along with first lady presented special puja items to the deities. TTD chairman Putta Sudhakar Yadav and EO Anilkumar Singhal along with temple priests received Chief Minister, Governor with Poorna Kumbham in a traditional manner.
The wedding was performed amid chanting of Vedic hymns, nadaswaram and beating of drums in Hasta Nakshatra Lagnam at 8 pm. It was witnessed by thousands of devotees who thronged the temple and waited patiently under the specially-erected pandals. The entire procedure has been performed under 'Pancha Agama sastram' system. The wedding process which began exactly at 8 pm concluded at around 10 pm.
