Government to rescue Agrigold victims: Balineni Srinivasa Reddy
Minister for Energy, Forest, Environment, Science and Technology Balineni Srinivasa Reddy announced that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has made all arrangements to rescue Agrigold victims in the state.
Ongole: Minister for Energy, Forest, Environment, Science and Technology Balineni Srinivasa Reddy announced that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has made all arrangements to rescue Agrigold victims in the state. He distributed the cheques to the victims of Agrigold in NTR Kalakshetram in Ongole on Thursday.
The minister said that the Agrigold has cheated thousands of poor people by luring them in the name of higher interests on deposits. He said that the victims have organised a number of protests in the state and were arrested by the police.
He announced that the government has allotted Rs 1150 crores budget for the rescue of the victims, as per the promise made by Jagan Mohan Reddy in his padayatra. He said that the government started the distribution of the cheques with the Agrigold depositors of Rs 10000.
District Collector Dr Pola Bhaskara said that the Agrigold has collected Rs 6380 crore from 32 lakh depositors of Andhra Pradesh and other states and countries. He announced that there are 26586 Agrigold victims in the district and the government have taken measures to provide Rs 191150904 as compensation to them and started with the depositors of Rs 10000 on Thursday.
Giddalur MLA Anna Rambabu, SP Siddharth Kaushal, DRO V Venkata Subbaiah, OMC Commissioner P Niranjan Reddy and others also participated in the programme.
