Nearly 2,000 devotees from the city visited Quirk Memorial Baptist Church in Resapuvanipalem to offer prayers

Visakhapatnam: Christians across the city observed Good Friday in commemoration of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ at Calvary.

Good Friday also meant that it was the end of Lent. Christians around the world contemplate Lent which is a season of 40 days of fasting and abstinence modelled after Christ's forty-day fast in the desert.

Scores of Christians made their way to churches to reminisce the suffering Christ went through to save the mankind. Prayers, fasting and processions marked the day. Marking the day, nearly 2,000 devotees from the city visited Quirk Memorial Baptist (QMB) Church in Resapuvanipalem on Friday.

Pastors and members of the church spoke about the love of Jesus for humanity. The seven last sayings of Jesus on the Cross were explained and asked the devout to follow them. 'World Peace and love your neighbour as you love yourself' were the two important messages given by Christ to the world, said Rajani Cartor who attended prayer meeting in a Church at Madhurawada.

Speaking about Good Friday, V Moses of Pothinamallayapalem said that a Christian has to follow the path of Christ all through his or her life and also remember the sacrifices of Christ would never harm other human being. The message of God was to pray and love, he added.
