Speaking at the 127th convocation of the TTD Veda Vignana Peetham here on Saturday, Dharma Reddy said that the TTD set up Veda Pathashala to rejuvenate the declining Vedic studies by providing free education, economic support and basic facilities to the students taking up Vedic studies.

As a result, thousands of students are popularising the importance of Vedas today. He also applauded the parents of students for encouraging their wards in Vedic studies. He stated the Vedic students are equally important to IAS, IPS, IRS, doctors, engineers and other professions. Veda Vignana Peetham Principal Kuppa Venkata Shiva Subramanyam Avadhani highlighted its 136 glorious years chequered history and said 610 students in 17 faculties led by 50 teachers are presently studying in the peetham.

The EO said students of the 12-year-long Vedic studies attracted TTD financial grant of Rs 3 lakh in the form of bank deposits and Rs 1 lakh for those, who underwent eight years courses.

The students received these funds including the interest accrued after the completion of studies. They also became eligible for professional posts of Veda pundits, Archakas, Purohits, teachers and also a dignified status in the society, he added. Thereafter, the Tirumala SO presented certificates and 10 gram silver medals to all 31 graduates of the Peetham completed various Vedic courses.
