Kakinada: University College of Engineering Kakinada (UCEK) Principal Prof MHM Krishna Prasad said that drug mafia is very dangerous.

National Institute of Social Defense organised one-day national conference on Drug de-addiction at JNTU-K here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Prasad urged the youth not to get addicted to drugs. There are young people in the country who are contributing to the development of the country, he added. He asked them to avoid the aping of Western culture.

He said that NSS volunteers should educate the rural masses on drugs and mobilize them against the menace.

Prof Vasu said that drug addicts were more prone to stress, not focused on studies, and were completely ruining their lives by not taking the right decisions at the right time.

He said that various State government departments in the country were working to solve the drug problem. He said that NSS volunteers and students must do their part to educate everyone on drug abuse as part of community service.

He said that it is important for an addicted person to get treatment quickly.

Drug Inspector B Srinivasa Rao, Assistant Professor of Rangaraya Medical College Dr V Varaprasad, faculty members, NSS volunteers and others were present.
