Kakinada: Maoists kidnap minor boy in East Godavari Agency

Kakinada: Maoists kidnapped a 14-year-old boy at Gollaguppa village of Vijayapuram Panchayat in Yetapaka mandal (East Agency). Though the incident took place in November, the parents lodged a complaint with the police on Monday.

According to the police, the boy was studying in 9th standard in Bheemavaram High School near Nellipaka of Yetapaka mandal. They took him by threatening his parents and villagers as well. They warned the parents and villagers against divulging the matter to the police.

The parents along with the villagers lodged a complaint regarding the kidnap. A case was registered in Yetapaka police station. Local people stated that providing food and essential commodities to the Maoists became a great burden and it was adversely affecting their livelihood.

In fact, Gutti Koya tribes from Chattisgarh took asylum in Andhra Pradesh Reserve Forest Areas because of fear of Maoists. However, they are still facing the same problems from the Maoists here and are also unable to get a solution for their problem.

Further, the parents and villagers of Gollaguppa are demanding the Maoists to release the kidnapped boy immediately. Many migrant tribal people from the States of Chattisgarh and Odisha have been residing in the Reserve forest areas of Yetapaka, Kunavaram, VR Puram and Chinturu of East Godavari district and all along the border of AP by doing Podu cultivation.

Maoist members have been exploiting the innocent Gutti Koya tribal people for their own benefits by luring them and recruiting them in different Dalams. Maoists have been recruiting the minor tribal youth by using force or by threatening or by kidnapping.
