Kovvali Laxmi Narasimha Rao, popularly known as Kovvali, author of more than 1,000 novels was remembered for his creative writing at the Cultural Central of Vijayawada and Amaravati during the launch of his novel 'Mayarambha' on Tuesday.

The programme was jointly organised by Kinnera Arts Theatres, Andhra Arts Academy and the CCVA.

Chief guest Killada Satyanarayana, IG of Police (PTO) said that Kovvali set a trend and created an unbroken record of writing 1,000 novels between 1935 and 1970 and the youth were looking forward for his new novels.

Veteran journalist Turlapati Kutumba Rao, in his presidential remarks, said that Kovvali touched almost all the social problems in his novels and suggested remedies to benefit all the sections of the people.

Golla Narayan Rao, president, Andhra Arts Academy highlighted the plot of the novel 'Mayarambha' and elucidated Kovvali's skill in contemporising Pingali Surana's Prabandham, 'Kalapoornodayam' interpolating certain fictitious incidents to create human interest and readability. Gumma Sambasiva Rao, while reviewing the novel, presented the multi-talented Kovvali in writing of novels with varied themes and depicted social evils and atrocities to bring awareness among the common man.

Dr E Sivanagi Reddy, CEO, CCVA said that one can see the impact of social reformer Kandukuru Veeresalingam in the novels of Kovvali who portrayed social evils, such as widow remarriage and early marriages. He also said that Kovvali was so popular among public for his sensational, creative, detective and terror novels.
